A deal that could see Lionel Messi earning £350 million per year is being proposed by Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal to bring the superstar forward to their team in the summer.
According to reports, Al Hilal has presented their proposal to Lionel Messi and his representatives in an attempt to lure him to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
If Messi accepts the offer, he would surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s current annual salary of £177m paid by fellow Saudi outfit Al-Nassr, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
This would mark the first time since 2018 that the two football stars would play in the same league again after Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus. Messi could be in line for the biggest payday of his career if he decides to leave PSG at the end of the season, once his contract with the Parisian club comes to an end.
Lionel Messi’s time at PSG may come to an end when his contract expires at the end of the summer.
If Messi decides to leave PSG, he could potentially join fellow superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, but he is also being courted by his former club Barcelona, who are hoping for a magical reunion at the Nou Camp.
Despite the massive offer from the Middle Eastern club, Messi may reject it in favor of more competitive teams in Europe’s top leagues. His priority is reportedly to continue his career in Europe after winning the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar last year, but he is not rushing his decision on his future.
PSG is eager to keep Messi at the club in the summer, but there are reports suggesting that the winger is preparing to leave the French champions at the end of the season.
Despite interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Lionel Messi is reportedly prioritizing a move that would see him remain in Europe. PSG’s renewed bid to keep him has allegedly been rejected as the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner wants guarantees on the club’s sporting direction.
Barcelona has not yet opened talks with Messi but is waiting to find out whether they are able to bring in new players after allegations of breaking Financial Fair Play rules. If given the green light to proceed, Barcelona could attempt to wrap up Messi’s return quickly to ward off interest from other high-profile teams.
Messi left his childhood club in 2015 after spending 21 years and winning 35 trophies during his time at Barcelona.
