Al-Nassr beat Monastir 1-0 on Monday night, marking their first competitive victory of the new season. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season in the victory.
After a lackluster preseason, Al-Nassr opened their campaign in the Arab Club Champions Cup on Friday and was held to a scoreless draw.
Another dull draw seemed certain until Ronaldo scored a trademark bullet header in the 74th minute to beat Tunisian club Monastir 2-1.
At the far post, Ronaldo rose above everyone to head in a perfect cross from the right.
In the last minutes of their season opener, the Saudi Arabian team scored two more goals.
Earlier in the game, Ronaldo had a fantastic opportunity to score when Monastir gave the ball away on the outskirts of their own area.
The Portuguese player made a darting run in on goal, but the goalie made a diving save with his foot.
Neither in preseason nor in Friday’s game against Al-Shabab did he manage to score, thus he was in something of a goalless slump.
