Cadillac unveiled the Project GTP Hypercar, a sneak peek at the company’s third-generation race prototype.
Cadillac plans to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023. The Project GTP Hypercar, which was co-developed by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing, and Dallara, features essential elements of the brand’s design language.
The Project GTP Hypercar is connected to Cadillac’s future through enduring brand elements like floating blades and vertical lights.
The Project GTP Hypercar is a singular example of form and function coming together, showcasing Cadillac’s performance aesthetic for the future. From the forthcoming race car to incredible production vehicles, we have a lot more in store,” said Chris Mikalauskas, Cadillac’s lead external creative designer.
We are absolutely ecstatic to be returning to Le Mans after 20 years, and Cadillac will be contending once more on the global racing scene. Cadillac Racing will have the chance to showcase its skill, technology, and craftsmanship by participating in both the 2023 IMSA and WEC championships, according to Global Cadillac Vice President Rory Harvey.
With the Cadillac DPi-V.R., Cadillac has been at the forefront of American sports car racing in the IMSA Manufacturers Championship since 2017, winning multiple races, podiums, and titles. An all-new 5.5L DOHC V-8 engine mated to an LMDh common hybrid system will power the new race vehicle.

The race car is scheduled to start testing on the track in the summer of 2022 and make its debut in 2023 at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Among Cadillac Racing’s recent accomplishments are three IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship victories. 2021, 2018 and 2017 claiming four consecutive victories at Daytona in the Rolex 24: 2020, 2019; 2018; and 2017 four times taking home the Michelin North American Endurance Cup: in 2020, in 2019, in 2018, and in 2017 Cadillac participated in the Pirelli World Challenge Championship before entering the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
