“Eat regularly,” Ronaldo said. “If you train intensely, it’s important to fuel your body to perform at its best. Sometimes I eat up to six small meals a day to ensure I have enough energy to perform at my best during each training session.”
Ronaldo usually has two lunches. The first is chicken salad, and the second is usually fish with salad, eggs and olives. The star also has two dinners with similar dishes to lunch.
Ronaldo’s total daily energy intake is usually around 3,200 calories per day.
Ronaldo prefers “simple foods like fresh fruit, vegetables, grains and meat proteins” as his go-to choice, which is why he looks so happy as he tucks into this plate of boiled eggs, tuna and tomatoes.
Along with food, “drinking water is very important,” Ronaldo insists – but to keep his body in top condition, the star avoids alcohol and fizzy drinks.
“I stay hydrated with a sports drink to fuel my workouts and races. This drink has a combination of carbohydrates to boost endurance, electrolytes to help hydrate, and vitamin B12 to fight fatigue.
Regarding saying no to alcoholic beverages and beer, this is not only because of his special diet but also because of a special reason that happened due to a heartbreaking event in Cristiano Ronaldo’s past. Accordingly, Ms. Dolores Aveiro – CR7’s mother revealed to the media that the star’s father, Mr. Dinis Aveiro, passed away in 2005 at the age of 52 due to alcoholism.
When he’s not working out, Ronaldo tries to maintain a relaxed lifestyle, resting as much as possible. “Workouts and training are the most important, but a relaxed lifestyle will help you feel your best, both physically and mentally,” the star explains.
“I spend my free time with family and friends, this helps me stay relaxed and always think positively.”
What’s unique about Ronaldo’s lifestyle is that he doesn’t sleep the traditional 8 hours a day. Instead, the star opts for five 90-minute naps a day. According to experts, this intensity helps the human body absorb and metabolize energy faster.
Along with sleep, CR7 sets a target of at least 5 gym sessions per week. During the process of improving his physique, he often swims and practices balance combined with endurance training.
In July 2018, a medical examination revealed that Ronaldo now has the physique of a 23-year-old. With 7% body fat, he is superior to other professional players who have 10-11%.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s total muscle mass accounts for 50% of his body weight, while this figure for normal players is only 46%.
Note: Ronaldo’s diet is specifically for athletes and most of the week is spent training and competing. Ronaldo’s menu and eating and resting style are not suitable for “office” regime.
