Disagreeing with the mistreatment of Lionel Messi from the Ultras PSG group, Kylian Mbappe spoke out in defense of the Argentinian elder.
Messi received thousands of whistles in the stands of Parc Des Princes as Paris Saint-Germain beat Ajaccio 5-0. Leo came back early after an internal disciplinary case, which made the Ultras PSG association unhappy.
Under pressure from the home crowd, Messi could not show much even though PSG only encountered the relegated team. With sympathy, Mbappe told Sport.fr after the match:
“Everyone has the right to freely express their emotions, but everything needs to be objective and kept a minimum of respect. Messi does not deserve constant criticism all this time.”
Despite the broken relationship between Messi and the Ultras, Mbappe said: “As long as we wear the same PSG shirt, Messi will always be protected by the whole team against all criticism.”
Not only Mbappe, PSG also issued a statement on the “Messi issue” in front of the press: “PSG strongly opposes any personal attacks against team members. We will take legitimate protection measures. if any over-the-counter behavior occurs.”
