NBA point guard Ben Simmons is once again hoping to offload his L.A. property, this time via auction.
The home, which has been on the market since 2022, is listed for $17.495 million. Located in Los Angeles’ celebrity-loved Hidden Hills area, the newly constructed home sits on a 1.45-acre parcel and spans 12,000 square feet with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It was completed in 2021 by Max Nobel of Nobel LA, who designed the mansion with opulent and impressive features, like a 40-foot-high great room and a 65-foot pool. The property will go live on April 18, and the auction will culminate on April 30 via Concierge Auctions’ online marketplace. Bidding is expected to start from $7 million to $12 million.
Simmons, an Australia native who has played as point guard on NBA teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers and now the Brooklyn Nets, was the 2018 NBA Rookie of the Year and is also well-known for dating model Kendall Jenner.
“This is a beautiful home that I’ve enjoyed, but because I spend most of my time on the East Coast, sadly, it often goes unused,” Simmons said in a press release. “It’s time to move on.”
The home’s façade has a masculine feel and is crafted from vertical reclaimed wood and charcoal-hued brick. Inside, there’s a double-height great room with vaulted ceilings and panoramic windows that overlook the verdant backyard. One of the living area’s most striking features is the 6,000-pound brass floating fireplace. The fireplace divides the living room and formal dining room.
For those who love to entertain, there is a modern kitchen as well as a hidden professional-grade chef’s kitchen. The kitchen connects to the outdoor patio for easy al fresco dining during the warmer months. Simmons certainly has exquisite design taste, exemplified by the two striking chandeliers from Preciosa Lighting.
No matter where you are in the home, you have views of the natural surroundings or feel connected to nature. To access the upstairs bedrooms, there is a Zen garden staircase with a bonsai tree. Other amenities include a soundproof movie theater, a gym that Simmons designed himself and a backyard space with the pool, patio, fireplace and cabana with a video wall and barbecue station.
There’s also a detached guest house with a bedroom, kitchenette, walk-in closet and private infinity plunge pool. The entire property is surrounded by beautiful olive trees.
“The buyer of this Hidden Hills modern retreat will experience true luxury in every way,” says listing agent Rachel Salgado, who is working in partnership with other agents Gregory La Plant and Raynie and Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates. “The home offers a private sanctuary for both relaxation and entertainment, with meticulous attention to detail evident in every corner. From the floor-to-ceiling Italian brass fireplace to the al fresco dining area, state-of-the-art appliances and stunning 65-foot pool and spa, this is a true immersion into the ultimate living experience.”
Hidden Hills is nestled along the Santa Monica Mountains and is known for its horse riding trails, hiking and easy access to beaches, shopping and entertainment.
