Neymar has to pay a fine for illegally digging a lake in his private villa in Brazil.
According to the government of Mangaratiba, a coastal town south of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Neymar violated the zoning rules, built illegally, and destroyed the soil, water and vegetation environment. The authorities fined the national team striker four fines totaling $ 3.3 million.
Neymar fell into the spotlight of the authorities after complaints on social media about illegal lake digging. On June 22, police arrested Neymar’s father, Neymar Snr, but later released him. Authorities sealed off Neymar’s villa and stopped construction. Neymar bought the villa in Mangaratiba in 2016. The property is about 10,000 square meters, including a spa and helipad.
According to Forbes magazine, Neymar is earning $85 million a year. This income includes salary, bonus at PSG and advertising. Neymar is one of the highest earning players in the world, alongside Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi.
On June 28, an unnamed Brazilian fan wrote a will to leave the property to Neymar. This man is only 30 years old, but is having health problems. This person also has no relatives to hand over the property.
Neymar and Pele currently hold the record of scoring 77 goals for Brazil. If he scores in the match against Bolivia in early September, the 31-year-old striker will set a new record. Neymar also helped Brazil win the 2013 Confederations Cup, the 2016 Olympic gold medal, the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup, the quarter-finals of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
At club level, Neymar owns 27 trophies. His peak was the treble with Barca in the 2014-2015 season. Neymar also won two La Liga with Barca and five Ligue 1 with PSG.
Neymar has been out of action since February 19. He broke his ankle in the match PSG beat Lille 4-3. According to French media, Man Utd wants to buy Neymar, but salary is a big barrier. “Red Devils” are having to limit spending due to financial fair play.
