Richarlison’s Giant Tattoo on His Back Features Faces of Neymar and Ronaldo
Brazilian football star Richarlison has revealed a large tattoo of himself on his back. The tattoo showcases Richarlison alongside Brazilian legends Ronaldo and Neymar Jr, whom the rising star greatly admires. The impressive artwork also depicts a Brazilian favela and features a portion of the country’s flag.
According to the Daily Star, there are writings in the top left of the tattoo that end with Pelé’s signature. Despite his personal achievements, including scoring three goals, Richarlison’s South American team, led by coach Tite, was unable to progress beyond the quarter-finals and was eliminated by Croatia in a penalty shootout.
Richarlison, who was a part of the Tottenham Hotspur forward, had an exceptional campaign with the Samba Boys. However, his tattoos tell touching stories beyond art. The Brazilian striker, who was previously against tattoos, has transformed himself into a living tattoo museum.
Richarlison’s body art not only showcases his skills on the field but also arouses curiosity with the various paintings scattered on his body. Unlike other Brazilian national team stars like Neymar, who gets a new tattoo every time he appears, Richarlison used to boycott tattoos due to his commitment to blood donation.
However, his stance on tattoos changed when he joined Brazil U23 for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. As a promise, the current Tottenham striker vowed to get a tattoo of a gold medal if Brazil U23 won the championship title. After returning to England, Richarlison found a tattoo artist named Dioney, also known as Dom, through a friend’s recommendation. Dom creatively designed and executed the tattoo featuring the Tokyo 2021 Olympic medal, Richarlison’s name, and the number 10 on his left thigh.
Another tattoo that Richarlison got less than a year ago, on Christmas, is an inscription on his neck that reads: “He is Brazilian.” According to Richarlison, this tattoo is related to a song that fans of his former club Everton used to sing at Goodison Park, starting with the line: “He is Brazilian, he only cost 50 million pounds.”
Among Richarlison’s favorite tattoos is a heart tattoo with the Brazilian flag on his chest, representing his love for the Brazilian national team and the country as a whole. When Dom was at Richarlison’s house, the Brazilian player spontaneously expressed his desire for a unique tattoo to showcase his love for Brazil. Dom drew a sketch on paper, which was soon approved by Richarlison. Dom said, “I have to tell everyone that Richarlison loves the Brazilian team, really loves it passionately. That prompted him to get a meaningful tattoo to show his love for the Brazilian national team on his body.”
Richarlison also proudly displays tattoos of famous cartoon characters such as Donald Duck, Son Goku, Bunny Rabbit, Popeye, or Tom and Jerry on his left arm. Dom revealed that Richarlison sent him pictures and said, “Be prepared. I want a cartoon character tattoo on my arm. I’m getting ready now.” They discussed the size, the right ink, and the timing to make it. It seems like Richarlison got a series of cartoon character tattoos to reminisce about his childhood.
With his growing collection of tattoos, Richarlison is gradually turning himself into a living tattoo museum. Of course, the number of tattoos will likely increase even more after the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup. It’s worth noting that Dom has already sketched a drawing of the volley goal Richarlison scored in a bicycle kick style…
