The futuristic Kia EV9 SUV has been reimagined in our stunning digital rendering as a full-sized all-electric pickup.
Several full-size all-electric pickups are available, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and GMC Hummer EV, priced above $60,000. The Tesla Cybertruck, set to debut soon, offers a quirky futuristic design. Kia’s EV6 is another example of innovative electric vehicle styling.
Our in-house digital artist has created a striking rendering of a potential all-electric pickup based on the 2024 Kia EV9 SUV. This concept promises to rival even the Tesla Cybertruck with its innovative design.
Kia plans to introduce eleven new electric vehicles by 2026, including the EV6 and EV9 SUVs. If they were to add an electric pickup truck like Emmanuel’s rendering, it could become a significant competitor to Tesla’s Cybertruck.
The rendering draws inspiration from the EV9 SUV concept, incorporating elements from the production version. The truck’s front has a bold appearance, with headlights resembling those on the original Kia concept. However, the grille and front bumper have been enhanced for a more aggressive look. Notably, two large air ducts are present to cool the brakes, accompanied by a thick skid plate protruding from underneath the vehicle.
The 2024 Kia EV9 Pickup Render poses competition for the Tesla Cybertruck. The EV9 SUV offers various powertrain options, including single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor versions. Tesla’s Cybertruck comes in three configurations: single motor, dual motor, and a top-spec triple motor version, each with varying acceleration times.
To ensure our concept truck can match the performance of the Cybertruck, we’ll equip it with the electric drivetrain from the upcoming EV9 GT, set to debut in 2025. Although details are limited, it’s likely to feature a more potent version of the EV6 GT’s powertrain.
The EV9 GT will likely sport a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, delivering 576 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. By incorporating the EV9’s Burst Mode feature, which temporarily boosts torque output from the electric motors, our pickup truck would outpace the Cybertruck on the drag strip.
Leaked images suggest the Cybertruck will maintain Tesla’s minimalist cabin design with a standard steering wheel and a large central touchscreen. It will offer Tesla’s standard technology suite, including Autopilot and optional full self-driving capability.
A potential Kia pickup inspired by this design could incorporate the latest tech from the EV9 SUV. Riding on the Hyundai group’s E-GMP platform, it would provide ample cabin and cargo space, possibly including features like the EV9’s 180-degree swivel seats for added versatility.
The EV9 SUV gets a giant 12.3-inch screen divided into two modules for the instrument panel and the central infotainment unit. The dashboard layout and modern and crisp, and Kia has added physical ʙuттons for climate control.
This arrangement would be perfect for the EV9-based pickup truck. It’ll also get Kia’s advanced driver ᴀssistance systems which can do most things that a Tesla autopilot does.
The Kia EV9 is estimated to start at $55,000 for the Standard Range RWD model, with a performance EV9 GT expected to retail around $70,000. If Kia introduces a pickup truck based on the EV9, it would likely have comparable pricing, providing a competitive alternative to electric pickups like the F-150 Lightning, R1T, and Tesla Cybertruck.
