The history of the transfer of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid has been going on for several years now. Despite this, the Frenchman has never been closer to leaving PSG, not even last year, when his contract with the Ligue 1 giants was due to expire in the summer of 2022. Mbappe suddenly signed a contract extension with PSG, breaking the hearts of many Real Madrid fans. But now, it seems that the move to the Spanish capital is closer than ever.
Mbappé’s current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2024 and he doesn’t seem to want to extend it any further. On the other hand, PSG have also made a pretty clear stance, they want the French player to either accept an extension or leave in this ongoing transfer window. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, PSG are confident that Mbappé has agreed terms to join Real Madrid in 2024 on a free deal. They still want to change, by pressing the player to either have an answer on the proposed new deal or leave immediately, and set the deadline before July 15. But there has been no response, so the French star is now considered to be ready to be traded. PSG has also removed the player’s name from the tour of Japan and South Korea, which will start this Saturday.

According to Sky Sports, PSG is convinced that now it is only a question of money for Mbappé. If he stays in Paris until next summer, the 24-year-old striker will receive a huge salary and a bonus – more than £100m. Then next summer he could receive a £160m signing fee from Real Madrid as a free agent, plus a hefty salary. So from the perspective of PSG insiders, it’s time to stand up for what’s right. President Nasser Al-Khelaifi will now do everything he can to sell Mbappe to the highest bidder. Until this country, there is no room for emotions anymore, it’s just business. It will be a transaction in which PSG will not need him to go anywhere, to Real Madrid, to the Premier League or to some Arab country.
So wait and see if Real Madrid make a move for Mbappé this summer. Premier League clubs can also try to sign the French star after the green light has been given…
